The Ocean Sapphire is a stunning three-deck luxurious experience for any guest that comes aboard. The wooden ship was built in 2012 and typically departs from Male Atoll in the Maldives.
On the lower deck, there are six airconditioned twin rooms with a desk, chair, wardrobe, one double bed, one single bed (twin or triple), and an ensuite bathroom. These rooms are 12 square meters and can be converted into double rooms. There are four deluxe cabins on the upper deck. These rooms are 14 square meters and include a desk, chair, wardrobe, air conditioning, TV, and an attached bathroom. The deluxe rooms all have windows looking out into the ocean.
The standard package includes three dives a day, totaling 18 dives for the week. Three meals a day, drinking water, tea, and coffee are included. Dive trips usually include exploration of the Male Atoll, Ari Atoll, and Vaavu Atoll. Once a week, there is a night fishing trip that consists of line or weight reef fishing. Guests can also go on snorkeling tours for an extra cost. When guests aren’t on the boat, they are doing anything from touring Male and local islands to barbecuing on sand bank or a virgin island.
The ship features a jacuzzi located on the sundeck with enough room for six guests. The dining area is located on the main deck and presents international and local cuisines in a buffet style. Guests can also enjoy drinks at the bar and book treatments at the spa. Jet skis, banana boats, and wakeboards can be booked ahead of time.
The ship is equipped with a GPS, binoculars, depth sounder, fire alarms, mobile phones, a fire extinguisher, SSB marine radio, searchlights, and lifebuoys.

Dive Conditions

The conditions are generally good all the year around Maldives. Air temperature is 26°C to 32°C year-round. The average water temperature ranges from 27°C to 30°C year-round. Divers can expect visibility from 15m to 40m depending on the season and location. The visibility is not as good during the rainy season, May to August. Currents depend a lot on tide and location, and ranges from none in the lagoon to very strong in the channels. Dive depths range from 5m to 40m. The coral reefs are shallow and most of the dive sites are between 10 and 20 meters deep.
Due to the medium to strong currents, drift dives are common. Often divers have to do a negative entry, which means the moment you enter the water, you must descend to the bottom. The Maldives is recommended for the intermediate level or experienced diver. Because of the depths and currents, dives in the Maldives are usually 45 - 50 minutes for many divers. There are many dives sites which are suitable for novice divers as well which are protected from the currents, and novice divers can do drift dives on the long reefs not affected by tricky currents.
