CoCo View Resort WEATHER
The resort features bungalows, cabanas, oceanfront rooms, mango suites, coco casa, and coco villas. CoCo View has accommodations to suit every guest. Four bungalows are set on over-the-water duplexes between the Clubhouse and Hawksbill Cay. These are some of the most private and romantic guest rooms on the resort. Twelve cabanas are built over the water and have their own private oceanfront decks. Oceanfront accommodation is spread out over twelve rooms that are situated along the water’s edge. There are large porches and decks that give guests front row seats to the clear blue sea. The Mango suite is a ground floor, ocean front suite with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and is furnished with one queen bed in the front and two twins that can be converted to a king in the back. The CoCo Casa is an air-conditioned, oceanfront escape that has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The CoCo Villa is the newest accommodation on the resort with three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a large family area with a large eat-in kitchen. The villa is on the beach with its own screened in porch.
The resort offers unlimited 24-hour shore dive and snorkeling to CoCo View Wall, Newman’s Wall, and the Wreck of Prince Albert. Divers explore the massive reef formations and macro life on the nearby reefs. Many guests have spotted green morays, spotted and sharp tail and gold chain eels, blennies, grouper, snapper, octopus, squid, lobster and many other species of tropical fish when snorkeling in the Front Yard. There are six dive boats that include four 50-foot boats that were originally built for the US Navy, but have been redesigned to accommodate scuba divers and their gear. There are two daily boat trips, and divers can burn four tanks in one day’s diving.
Packages include 7-nights’ accommodation, welcome drinks, all meals, unlimited beach diving, unlimited night diving from the shore, two boat trips a day, tanks, belts, and weights. Free use of ocean kayaks and WiFi are included as well, transfers are included for stays of five nights or more. Spa service, tours, day trips, and sightseeing are not included.
Dive sites include: CoCo View Wall is located within swimming distance of CoCo View Resort, but is open to all divers. It plunges down about eighty-two feet (25 m) from the surface and is heavily encrusted with soft and hard corals.
Mary’s Place, considered by many to be the best dive on the island, is a series of deep coral canyons, teeming with macro life. Unfortunately, every diver has heard about Mary’s Place, which means it can feel like there’s a lineup of dive groups waiting to splash in.
Dolphin’s Den, on the north side of the island, abounds with coral canyons similar to those at Mary’s Place, and far less crowded. They are lush with hard and soft corals and teeming with small reef life, tiny cleaner shrimp playing among the anemones. These reefs are some of the best canyons around Roatan, between fifty and seventy feet deep and honeycombed with tunnels leading from one canyon to the next.
Fish Den, the marine park on the west side of the island encompasses 8 miles (13 km) of coastline from the high-water mark to about one hundred eighty feet deep. Patrols here enforce strictly limited fishing activities, which means the sea life is abundant. The park maintains about sixty mooring sites for dive boats, so the coral hasn’t been damaged by anchors. Fish Den is a shallow dive; most of the best stuff is in the first twenty feet.
The El Aguila wreck lies at about one hundred eight feet (33 m), is located on the west side, and is on the deeper end for some recreational divers. Divers only have a few minutes of bottom time, but there’s a way to make this dive a lot longer. The wreck sits beside a superb coral wall, so divers can pop down, do a leisurely swim of the length of the wreck, max out bottom time and then head for the wall.
